Hanauma Bay aka: Hanauma Bay Park

If you want to see the real Hawai’i go here. It’s still got it’s tourists, but the ocean is incredible and the waves in the winter are just awesome to watch. Also during the summer the bay is as calm as a lake. Definately one of my favorite beaches.

my friends and i tried to go snorkelin here, but it was during/right after a storm, so the waves were too strong for me. one of my friends made it to see the coral reef, but me and my other friend just stayed on the sand.

..Even if it is “REALLY” crowded at times , it’s still worth the visit. Gorgeous Bay just perfect for snorkeling , or scuba diving if you want to go a little deeper, plenty of fish to go around for every one,....though do be careful…as some of the locals bite… I am referring to the greedy “Jack” fish who mistook my finger for a morsel of food ,(and the more I tryed to pull it out…the harder he bit…I was afraid I might attract the sharks next , what with all the blood he drew, ..little bugger..) but aside from that, great place to loose a day or two, and if you are not so inclined to get you feet wet, or your finger bit for that matter…there is always the beach… that is if you can find a spot to stretch out on !!!...Just go if you get the chance, you’ll love it!!!

The most magical day of our Hawaii trip. First time snorkeling, and now I’m hooked. You gotta get up and go early before it gets crowded and cloudy water gets stirred up.

Incredible, incredible view as you follow the road down to the bay. The snorkling was wonderful and it was just incredibly beautiful.

There was a time when you could visit Hanauma Bay with frozen peas early in the morning and have an amazing experience…Those days are long gone..Now time is wasted in parking and there is a mandatory movie viewing and it just is not worth it…

The scenery was great, the snorkelling fun and the fish amazing!

It’s definitely touristy, but the experience of being with actual coral and having fish swim artound you is unforgettable. It was even better when I went, as visitors were allowed to enter the “Toilet Bowl”, a place where The water naturally and quickly rose from 7-8 feet high to almost no water at all. I also remember that they were building a museum when I was there, so that’s probably finished and may be worth seeing.
