I walk by it at least once a week. I still get just as emotional as the tourists I see there who are viewing it for the first time.

I got a $95 parking ticket. It definitely wasn’t worth it that time.

for the best view of the WTC site, take the PATH train (you can get off at the next stop and come right back). It gives you a great view of the construction and the roots of the site, places that you cannot see from church st. and, for a $1.50, you will get a real metro experience

The first time I went to the WTC site was not long after the WTC site became the WTC site (and was no longer the World Trade Center). We still get close enough to see anything that day, but just the thought of what had happened, knowing what had happened that day, was too much to bear, and we quickly high-tailed it out of lower Manhattan.
The next time I went to the WTC site was a few years later, November of 2005. I was going into the city to see a show with my father, and a friend of mine put me on the PATH train from Newark, which arrived into the (recently reopened at the time) WTC PATH station. The new WTC PATH station has a huge glass window overlooking the site, and may very well be the closest thing to actually being onsite (at least it may have been at the time). I was completely unprepared that day to look into the huge hole that is the site itself. There were all sorts of construction vehicles and debris still in the site, and I must’ve stood there for 20 minutes (already late) unable to look away, but desperately wanting to. I’ve come into that PATH station again since, and every time it reminds me again what happened that day, how quickly the world changed.

If you take a trip to New York City, this is worth a look see; You can take the E train right to the site and when you get up to the Street level, your right there; There is pictorial memorial and someone playing music there when you go; Of course, there are street vendors; there’s a man there that brings his fruit and wares(drinks, cookies homemade) from upstate New York, and his cookies are VERY good; I had some. Across the street from Ground Zero is St Peter’s Episcopal Church where the people who helped after 9/11 went there and stayed and made it famous. right across the street from that on the same side as St Peter’s is Century 21 department store, where bargains in clothes, household items and some souvenirs can be found and had. Also there are street vendors selling pictures of the towers and all; I wanted to get one of the pics but didn’t have it to do but it’s worth the look.

An incredibly somber site. So much respect is felt there. You can’t help but tear up.
