It was okay, but I wouldn’t have gone there without my friend attending school there. The campus is nice, and the downtown area seemed interesting enough, but not to draw me to it as a destination.

Columbia is an ok college town but it is sort of in the middle of nowhere, I had a great time while visiting but don’t think I would pick this as one of my choices of college communities.

I love college towns, and Columbia certainly has all the requisite hallmarks associated with a large state university city. But if you’re in this part of the country and you’re looking for a good time, I’d recommend Lawrence, Kansas the home of KU. Lawrence has more to offer in the way of charm, and it has a more laid-back feel.

Lived here for two years and now (surprisingly) miss it. A nice small town. And about 30 minutes south of Columbia, near a bend in the river, is a little trailor that serves Thai food. Don’t ask, but trust me: Delicious.

I spent a few days here a few years ago with a friend whose mother had just moved to Columbia. It was Thanksgiving weekend, and we did some Christmas shopping. The town seemed like a nice place to live.
