Yangshuo aka: 阳朔

Yangshuo is the least interesting town I’ve visited in China. It caters nearly exclusively to young budget tourists. The streets are lined with cookie-cutter places like “Bob’s Backpacker Cafe” that serve “Western and Eastern food” and have “cheap local beer.” But while the town sucks, the surroundings are great, and obviously worth seeing. Moreover, in just 30 minutes by bike, you can get to beautiful farm country where there are no tourists.

In sum, the Yangshuo area is clearly worth visiting, but I’d personally stay at one of the nice hotels outside of the town itself.

A backpacker haven. If you are into active things, Yangshuo is the place to go. Rock climbing, kayaking, bike riding, etc… Yangshuo has it.

I’ve traveled throughout China and still haven’t been to Guilin yet, and I know I’m missing out on one of the most beautiful places in China. My Chinese tutor would talk non-stop about Guilin. She kept telling me that I haven’t seen China until I’ve been to Guilin. Additionally, every friend that has gone has had an amazing time. I recently found the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat while surfing the Net and mentioned it to a couple of friends this summer, as they had some time off. They went and said it was one of the best places they’d ever been to in China. I was so jealous when I read their email because I would’ve loved to join them. Alas, I’ll have to wait until later this year, but you can bet that I will be checking into one of the guesthouses for a week of R&R and nature loving. i have been there at 2004(sorry about my bad english), i like there!and everyone like that when they traveled to there! Bargin and China style Hotel.Nice local guide and Nice view! u can rent a bike rush into the nature! or rent a boat waving on the river !and the water is so clean! many locals swimming there! i go to bar at night_{and meet a sweet girl in Xi street ,it is one of most anicent street of china!}drink some cool local beer is a good way to taste ur life!_{Beer fish is the most famous food therebut i dont like actually}~and ..foreigner is more than chinese there ..

And so relaxing after the toils and turmoils of travelling through China.

Rent a bike and go for a bike ride. Very fun.

I had fun here. Its pretty, there’s some good food. and it’s cheap!

The mountains jut right out of the ground. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.

and then… there’s the nightlife.

i live in a city near there, guilin. it’s really fun to bike and shop and stuff there.
