I work a few blocks away from here. The staff is friendly—it’s always a scene and on Thursdays, the blue plate special is FRIED CHICKEN!!1 It’s a tender, juicy, boneless breast served with mashed potatoes, gravy, string beans and a side salad. Trust me – you won’t regret ordering this. Indulge yourself – you won’t be sorry.

okay so I’ve only seen Jack Black and Johnny Knoxville – but that must say something right there, right?

Its famous for something… but it aint the food. The food is really bad. Ive been there three times and had three different dishes and they were all terrible. And its over priced for the food.
Id take House of Pies on Vermont/Franklin over this place anyday.

especially when they have good coffee, decent food, and aren’t interested in rushing you out the door. Next time I’m up in that neighborhood, I want to check this place out.

the 101 coffee shop is probably best known for its “last cappuccino before the 101” sign painted on the building (the 101 is the freeway that runs alongside it). it is one of my favourite diners in los angeles, a solid, dependable sunday breakfast spot, but also great for a late night. even though i’ve only been going here for a few years, it definitely feels like it has been a part of my life forever, and that it has been there since the ‘fifties, although i know this isn’t true. everyone who works here is laid back and amiable, and the crowd ranges from young families to the hollywood hipsters. i bring my mum here, but hang out with my friends here as well. it’s a great place for people watching.
the menu is standard diner fare with a california twist—you’ll find solid comfort in the burgers, pies, and shakes, but it’s also healthier than you would imagine, with vegan and vegetarian options and soy milk for any espresso bar drink. the service is speedy, efficient, and while the staff is nice, they definitely know when to leave you alone.
