The first time I went to this place

My favourite place in all of Thailand. It was so badly affected by the tsunami, but it is still beautiful and they continue to rebuild. Definately take at least a day trip here if your around the Phuket/Krabi area. Snorkelling was fantastic.

The last time I went to this place

i went here with 2 girlfriends on Christmas eve. We haven’t booked rooms in advance so we had to walk to the end of the island to get a room, the farthest one but the most quiet one.

I love it! every island is a paradise to me..

P.s. on the way to the island, i met a cute Swedish guy who i went straight to sit with him on the bus and talked to him 6 hours non-stop from Hadyai to Kabi.

A rebirth but same same.. too crowded

%{color:blue}If you don’t like crowds it’s not the place to visit.
I’ve been before a few years before; then it was also too crowded but had a better feel… %

It’s beautiful, though its such a busy tourist town. I pay my respect to nature (the trees and sea…) spend a short time and head off to other islands….

If you Go to find a quiet patch on the beach it’s just no good because it’s soon crowded out with other people finding patches of shaded sands. (a space invades game of sorts happens)
The bay beach waters are shallow and seem lifeless—If you like views of lots of people mixed with beautiful hills and water then maybe you would like it :-)
%

Gone are the 1000s of shaded deck chairs , shaded by small leafy trees hedges. Replaced by open spaces and large trees to the edges of the bay. That feels more natural.
Strangely it has a legacy of mortality still hanging over it in my mind… but mortality is a fact of life; rejoice in life :-)... but Phi Phi has a bit of nature rebuilding to do.

I also visited the boat port side, great if you like crowds and want to book diving. Even 2 beautiful english woman asking me if i wanted to go on their dive trip.

It's lovely but a little over crowded

Beautiful in parts and scared by tragedy in others. I have a friend who lives there and I didn’t know until too late.

Idyllic!

As the boat heads toward the island, you start relaxing! Room just yards from the beach, fantastic food, stunning views from the the mountaintop viewpoint and the beautiful, ever-friendly Thai people who just can’t do enough for you… I had the most relaxing week of my life there in 2003…

Just came back from spending a few days in Ko Phi Phi. What a great place! I loved the chilled out atmosphere of the town – a great mix of fun and relaxation. Would definately go back!

Phi Phi Scuba

I dont know how it fared during the Tsunami, but reports weren’t pretty. Having spent a couple heavenly weeks on this island, I just want to give a shout out to the people who made this place one of those timeless treasures. I hope it’s going well for you all. Best to Phi Phi Scuba, especially.
