Saratoga Springs

For five years I have had a friend who lived here. He moved to Buffalo to go to college, but this is his home city. I’d love to see it one day! (Not to mention its historical value!)

We are thinking about relocating to the area so we checked out Saratoga. Downtown was extremely nice, looks like they dumped a great deal of money into it. Almost has a snobby vibe. Very vibrant with lots of places to eat and drink. Housing seemed pretty high for upstate. Must be all that horse money floatin around.

We go to Saratoga every year. There is a great little boutique there called Speck that carries jewelry from a local designer – Ed Levin. Every year I get a new piece to remember our trip. What a friendly place, great hometown feel. I want to move there soon.

Nicole and I want to spend a few days in Saratoga Springs this summer. We might want to move there in a year or two, based on what we’ve read of the place.

A gorgeous, historical town that I would love to come back to and see properly, having only really seen it in passing while heading to a party nearby.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) and the quaint little shops! Don’t forget to visit Mrs. London’s Bakery & Cafe! Mmmmmm-mmmmmm!

...from 1982 to 1985, the only time I have lived outside of California or Hawaii in terms of my conscious memory. I am glad I did so, because I think it’s no bad thing for a warm weather kid to know what it’s like in a cooler clime, to see the seasons and experience an actual winter. I have not been back since—there are no real friendships that have maintained since then, though I’ve known people who are from there who I shared teachers with and the like. But even if I never return, I remember it with fondness still, and there was much beauty in the town that I recall still.

Downtown Saratoga has lots of great shopping, fabulous food, and is very historical. Four Seasons health food store is a good stop – it has an amazing buffet-style cafe that serves delicious, healthy, vegetarian and/or vegan food, along with a well-stocked store. Uncommmon Grounds is a good coffee shop with great bagels. Sushi Thai Garden has good Thai food and sushi. Bailey’s offers all sorts of coffee drinks (alcoholic and non) and an array of interesting desserts (it’s great place for groups too – you can get a fondue or smoress to sharee!)

There’s a great yarn shop on the main road- I don’t remember what it’s called, but it’s worth asking about. They have a huge selection and are extremely knowledgeable. There are also great used bookstores, many boutiques, and an assortment of small shops with various focuses.

Beautiful, go to the spas they are excellent.

...and my wife and I fell in love with the place. We brought our kids back 8 years later and loved it just as much.
