Ko Chang

The people there are so chilled, you might be stepping on discarded needles… Instead, try staying at Rock Sand or the Neverland-like installment next to it – I guarantee a funky (as in super) experience. It is on White Sand, but it’s not as bad as another reviewer made out. ;)

Unless rampant commercialism is your thing (and you really need to stay next to a 7 eleven), most of the accommodation here isn’t exactly “on the beach” but nearer the road.

My personal favourite spot is Khlong Prao beach. For a good choice of budget accommodation, try Ban Rim Naam at www.iamkohchang.com. The beach on this stretch is more secluded than on White Sands, and I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else on Koh Chang.

As Thailand’s second largest island, this place is still not as developed as Samui or Phuket – which is a really good thing! Visit before it becomes another Samui!
