Gibraltar, British Overseas Territories

Awesome experience! by perpender

Gibraltar is a novel experience. Their relationship with Spain makes it a hassle to get into & out of the peninsula if you drive. It’s better to park on the border in Spain and walk through the border crossing. Once inside, there are buses & taxis to take you anywhere. There’s a landing strip right after crossing into Gibraltar, but only planes from London are allowed to land. You must cross this landing strip to get to the ‘Rock.’

The views are gorgeous, much of the dining is pub-style, and the historical sites are worth visiting.

Gibraltar, British Overseas Territories

Wow, just came back this afternoon from Gibraltar. What a nightmare. Every free square inch is covered in parked cars. There is literally no place to pull over to the side of the road or even turn around for kilometres! I would never return, and wish I hadn’t even gone.

Sorry to those that loved it. But this place is horrible.

Well, I learnt how to sail here whilst not knowing I was pregnant with my daughter – well that was a long time ago!! I also gained a sailing qualification.

i found quite a lot to do in Gibraltar. i loved the monkeys they are very cute and cool. We got a bus tour up the rock which was very interesting, and Alan our driver was just the best. The monkeys were hilarious n jumped all over the vehicles. i was hoping that one might jump on me bt i wasnt that lucky. Later on we had a tour inside the caves which is quite good and after that we went dolphin spotting. Id never been on a boat trip before then n i found it amazing!! It was really such a great feeling! And it was fantastic to see the dolphins, they are beautiful creatures and it was lovely to see them in their natural habitat. Overall it was quite an experience, and i would recommend it as a great day out, especially for animal lovers.

Mix UK and Spain - and presto - you've got Gibraltar by Regnar

Nice place, but the low prices on booze, tobacco and electronics make the shopping street a bit boring (unless of course you are there to buy booze, tobacco, or electronices). If you are going to buy some electronics – check the prices on the Internet before you go – and start bargaining. As most electronics shops are owned by the same family – stay in one shop – they call each other to alert each other of stubborn tourists.

Apart from shopping – go to the top of the rock – the Mediterranean Steps are good exercise (especially when going up). The view is excellent.

Gibraltar is an eccentric little British ruled community surrounding one of the so-called Pillars of Hercules, namely, the Rock of Gibraltar. I have climbed the rock and stood on top. I wouldn’t mind spending more time in Gibraltar.

Also just incase you ever visit Gibraltar – you only really need to take about 100quid coz a bottle of vodka is about 3 pounds .. literally

Ahhh the Pillars Of Hercules, just hearing the name you know this is a cool place. I found it a very unique place, what with the Barbary apes, looking across to Africa whilst in Britain, yet still in Spain…? Going on a dolphin cruise, looking at the British colonial hangovers et al. There’s much to do here. Remember your passport xx
