Not very good

Wow, it’s funny how revered this place is. The brisket tasted like sawdust and the fried okra was gag inducing. Unless you are here for the music, stay away at all costs. Everyone I went with was disappointed.

What I want to do at this place

Getting close to my goal… I bought tickets for an underappreciated band called The Bottle Rockets for March 31st! It’s going to be on the indoor stage… what’s that like?

The first time I went to this place

I saw ARCADE FIRE playing in the backyard. Then the next night, I got to see WILCO in the very same spot. Not too shabby.

More interested in entertainment than food.

I don’t eat meat, so I can’t really comment on the BBQ, but I saw Maria Taylor and Har Mar Superstar play here and it was a great show. They don’t allow smoking and the venue is nicer than most clubs.

great place for shows - good food too

If I’m at Stubb’s, it’s usually to see bands. They have a small indoor stage and a large outdoor venue. I’ve seen bands on both stages… big name bands (Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, Pavement, Sebadoh) outdoors and smaller bands (Godspeed You Black Emperor, Pan American) inside.

I think I’ve eaten at Stubb’s once or twice… it’s the sort of place I eat at when it’s convenient, as there isn’t much parking unless you’re willing to walk for blocks and blocks.

Gospel Brunch

Go on Sunday morning for a good brunch and great gospel music. But get there early because the place packs up fast!

Music!

I’ve never eaten at Stubb’s, but I’ve seen a few bands there: dog’s eye view, The Refreshments, David Poe, David Garza, Ben Harper, and 30 Odd Foot of Grunts (Russell Crowe’s band).

30 Odd Foot of Grunts’ video “Texas” was filmed there. I’ve studied the crowd to try to find myself, but I can’t find me.

good BBQ, great music

I love this place. Locals tell me there are better and more authentic BBQ joints in Austin (please share) but Stubb’s is definitely good enough for us visitors. The music venue is wonderful in my opinion. I’ve seen some great shows here.
