Why I want to go to this place

Been there once (June 2007) and want to go back! The nature is awesome, the people wonderful, the entire atmosphere very laid back. And don’t get me started on the Islay whiskies & distilleries…

I liked the seals in Islay and the lochs were interesting, ‘cause we don’t have them in England, I don’t think. I went with my aunt uncle, their two sons and my sister. I went for a really nice pony trek too, which was fun! We were in Bowmore, I distinctly remember the round church at the top of the road we were staying on! :-)

Why I want to go to this place

I like the taste of Islay malt whiskies and I’d like to visit the place where they originate from.

Islay is beautiful, especially the beaches, camping in the dunes at Kintra is great. We go here almost every year and never get tired of it. Also the Whisky is very good ;-)

Isle Of Islay

Love it or Hate it

I’ve never met anyone who is ambivalent about Lagavulin. They either love this distinctive single malt scotch, or hate it. I’m one of those who can’t get enough of the salty tinged, smokey-peat flavour. Straight-up, two drops of water and one sip, and I’m magically transported to sitting around a campfire, eating smoked oysters, and philosophising with friends. Lagavulin is most definately near the top of my list of favourite things.

One of these days I’d like to visit the distillery in the Isle of Islay to thank the people who’ve brought me so much pleasure.
