Shenandoah National Park

What more can I say? I like to be there in the fall when the waterfalls have dried up and you can scale the rock faces in sneakers. Absolutely magical.

I went to see the fall foliage with my boyfriend. It was lovely.

What a wonderful way to enjoy a day.

I spent two weeks working just outside of Elkton, VA. Shen NP is just east of the Shenandoah valley and I spent a couple days in the hills of Shen NP exploring. I ran on the “Big Run Loop” one afternoon after work and thought it would be funny if I saw a bear. I saw one bear thrashing through the bushes uphill from me. Towards the end of my run I ran into a smaller bear that scrambled thirty feet down a tree to greet me. I really enjoyed Shen NP, especially the natural isolation one can enjoy after work and only a mile or two from the road.

I went hiking on the AT in Shenandoah for the first time today and I can say I will definitely be going back first to finish the AT there and then afterwards because it’s soooooo beautiful.

If you like staying in log cabins, go to Shenandoah, stay at the Lewis Mountain campgrounds. Make reservations first tho. We went for a long weekend for many years. Loved it.

Took a two-day bike trip up Skyline Drive through the Park last year. It’s always been one of my favorite places, and now it’s one of my favorite memories.

This is one of the most beautiful places, i´ve ever seen. Ensure to take a trip on the “Skyline Drive” (~$15 per car per week, see: http://www.nps.gov/shen/pphtml/fees.html) and have an empty memory stick in your cam ready.

It was a long time ago, but I remember the valley being very deep.
