Work related trip, it is great city with special atmospheer

I was in Quebec sity for 7 days work related trip, the work related was not so good but the trip was great. There was a festival going on, Everyone in the streets wore costumes, the atmosphere was great

I have been planning a trip through Ontario and Quebec Provinces forever, I really want to go up through New England to Toronto (during the film festival), then Montreal and Quebec City. Quebec City seems so beautiful and fairytale-like. I loved visiting France, and am hoping for a baby Paris with an awesome castle.

I have family in Quebec, but I’ve only been once. I will never forget it. Quebec city is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to or seen. Being in the inner city is like stepping into a time machiene. The streets are all cobblestone, there are no cars, and horse-and-carriages are everywhere. The enire place is like subtle glamour- and at night- Wow! Everything is lit. There are so many little shops to browse in, you’ll never get bored!
While I was there, I stayed at the Chateau Frontenac, a very famous hotel in Quebec. If you’re planning on visising Quebec city, I highly suggest staying there. It’s absolutely fabulous!

This city is French to the core. The architecture is beautiful, and some places are unique, like a wall which depicts the history of the city. The city is more European than North-American with cobble-stone streets and buildings’ entrances on a diagonal. Very charming place. It helps if you speak, or try to speak French.

Well, except for the lack of strip clubs.

The old quarter is the place to go. It is so cutesy and almost is like a big castle or fort. In the winter they have this festival with this snowman guy. He looks like the French Canadian version of the Pillsbury dough boy. :) I think his name is the Bonne Homme or something. It is cold there, and chilly in the summer too.

If you can, try staying in the old town. Most of the great places to visit are within easy walking distance. If you have to stay further from there, you can get a bus pass down there and then walk around. The bus service is very efficient and reliable.

One last bit of advice. Be prepared to walk because driving around and parking can be difficult. I recommend trying to take gradual slopes more than the steep roads. There are often hidden shops, cafes, and random history hiding on those streets.
