Why I want to go to this place
400 years ago this city was settled. Am trying to convince my daughter to go in the coming week. Don’t know if I’ll be successful, though.

It’s true! It’s like going to another country (that’s not Canada) and feeling like you’re in a very different place! Beautiful to look at, lots of history…

I just got back from a family vacation and definitely recommend going here. Canada may not seem very different from the United States but once you reach the French-speaking part its like you’re in a whole different world. It feels like France at a fraction of the price. There is so much culture and everyone is so nice. I recommend seeing the chateau.

When i went here, it was on an eighth grade field trip…and it was basically AMAZING…
we never got a chance to see the old part of the city, but we were there for 5 days, and made the most out of it. we went tubing and dog sledding, as well as countless tours of the city. we went in the winter time, just in time to see the carnaval.
actually, there was one thing that i liked the most, that blew me away. i don’t know if this is common in Canada, or in other countries for that matter [that was the only time i’ve been out of the states] but i loved the way they looked at graffiti. they had special walls that people could cover with graffiti. and they look like magnificent paintings…it really touched me.
i would definitely go back to quebec.

My family takes great pride in our French Canadian roots. Perhaps this is why Quebec City is so close to my heart. I visited once as a child, as an adult I try to visit each year.
Quebec City has a rich history. It is the birthplace of Franco-American culture. After a trip to the Museum of Franco-American history last year, I learned that my family has been in Quebec City since the late 1600’s. Whenever I visit, I feel like I am at home. My family names are everywhere, as my husband says, there is no hiding where my family is from.
I love the culture of Quebec. My husband and I have visited so many times in recent years that we have experienced the majority of the touristy sites. Regardless, we love to visit just to stroll along the cobblestone streets and enjoy the occasional glass of wine at a cafe. We like to joke that one of these days, we are going to visit and decide to stay. I could really see us doing that someday.

Would love to get up there this year. Maybe even a 43 Things meetup would be feasible. Great city with great people. Couldn’t get any better than that.
Does anyone know of any reasonable accommodations in the city where this could happen?

It’s going to be the 400th year anniversary of the foundation of Quebec City this year in summer! If you’re planning to visit, there is going to be lots of activities, concerts.
