I really want to learn the tahitian language. It seems like a really interesting one and it would be a nice place to do research :)

It’s nothing fantastic, just to have a look at the island that is arguably the most famous in French Polynesia, but also arguably the ugliest around! Though it’s still kinda interesting, nevertheless. One can always find an aspect of a place interesting.

Tahiti is my dreamland. It is in the middle of nowhere, such a distant place but it is like the heaven on earth.such unbelievable colors and such a virgin nature..

Don’t spend much time in Papeete, one day is enough. We went on to Moorea and had an awesome time!

This expensive part of my holiday was very nice :) I didn’t do the full rich tourist thing and stay in an overwater bungalow and was glad for it. Given that the stopoff was free on the cheapest flight to New York I could afford to pay more to stay there than normal.
I went on a small tour up into the mountains where we went into the crater of a volcano that hadn’t erupted in 800,000 years, we swum in waterfalls, ate guavas that our guide picked from a tree by the side of the road, I said hi to some wild chickens, we went to the ruins of an old temple.
It was hard to get an idea of real tahitian culture in the rarefied atmosphere of my resort, and I would have liked to see more of papeete itself and tour around. I missed the gaughin museum but saw tonnes of his paintings in new york.
oh and the dancers were very impressive! i don’t know how they do that! and the food was very nice, but again also expensive.

Believe it or not, the first time I ever found out about this place was when I was in Junior High. I was reading the diary of Anne Frank and she mentioned something about wanting to go to Tahiti once the war was over.
And after researching it, I discovered that it was a little chain of islands that basically appeared to be the closest thing to heaven.
Some of the things I would like to do when I get there:
-Listen to the local “hits” station, Radio 1 La Grande while lounging on the beach
-Attempt to read the local daily paper (La Depeche de Tahiti), also while lounging on the beach
-Go diving with the sharks
-Take a jeep into the mountains of Tahiti
-Sneak off to a motu and have a picnic
-Pick some Tahitian gardenias
-Watch a Polynesian dance show while dining on the local cuisine
-Relax!
-Visit the Paul Gauguin and Robert Wan Pearl Museums
-Go shopping at the market in Papeete
-Bring home a pareo and a black pearl
