The last time I went to this place

I saw the site driving west from Wilmington, NC one day some time ago. I lacked the funds to take the tour of the inside so I just gazed at it for awhile from ahwile. Very impressive and hard to fathom how one family could live in such an ostentatious place. The Biltmore is the embodiment of the Guilded Age!

The first time I went to this place

It was around Christmas time and I was on a school trip. They had a replica of the Biltmore Estate made into a gingerbread house. This place is lovely. Great for a wedding or romantic getaway.

A tip I have about this place

The building and grounds were lovely. They had their own “village”. Read that they had their own peasants. I wanna have peasants. And a winery. And a private deer park. Oh, oh and air conditioning, oh wait, I have that and they don’t….

Tips: go on a cool day, wear good shoes, do the behind the scenes tour and don’t, repeat don’t, force teenagers to go.

as someone who loves to cook, the kitchen in this place was magnificent. put on your walking shoes. the estate is huge! i loved it, though, and would go back in a heartbeat.

Boring

I love Asheville, really. Most of the places are fun, beautiful, and friendly. Not the Biltmore. Exorbitant fees, no tour, boring-too-busy-walk-thru, and not enough attendants. Good points: rose garden, green lawn, nice bathrooms. Save your money and get book about the Vanderbilts instead.

The first time I went to this place

Me and Kev where on random road trip and ran into it – it was really nice! I don’t know if I could take the tour hundreds of times, however I would go back to stay a night at the lodge and take advantage of that aspect of it….

Biltmore is Beautiful!

One of my best friends from college called me one day as I’m planning my wedding and tells me that she’s set the date! Unfortunately it was the same date I had set and even reserved the venue and so forth. A little while later she called me back and said they were changing the date to 2 weeks before mine so that we could be sure to be at each other’s weddings. She lives in Hendersonville and she was engaged at Biltmore. My husband and I had always talked about going so I suggested that we hit it up while we were in town for the wedding….so that’s exactly what we did. We brought our dogs and we stayed at the Biltmore Inn, a wonderful pet-friendly B&B right beside the estate. Don’t miss the winery and the conservatory. Even if you find plants relatively boring, do not go to Bilmore and not see the amazing collection of plants they have. We had a wonderful dinner in downtown Asheville at Bistro 1896, be forwarned, parking in the downtown area is a bit of a hassle.

A review of this place: nice, but pricey

$42 to get in the gates was a little steep, especially since that doesn’t include a tour(8-15 more for that), but it was cool to go….. wine tasting was a bonus at the winery. Get your ticket after 3 or 330PM and you get to go the next day too.

A review of this place

definitely pick up a headset to do the tour.. much better than just walking through.
