Since I was flying “stand-by” on a buddy pass, I knew that my time spent within the airport could be substantial.
The first day I travelled through, my layover was just over 4 hours… Yawn!!! I spent the whole time reading a book.
On my way back home to California from Georgia, I was given the choice to either be driven an hour and a half from Warner Robins to Atlanta and have only a short wait before my flight… or to fly from Macon to Atlanta and face a 7 hour wait for a flight that I might not even be able to get on.
Out of respect for my sister who was nine months pregnant and would have had to drive me, I decided on the latter.
I did quite a bit or reading on that day as well, but I also walked around and checked out the shops and did some very interesting “people watching”.
It really wasn’t so bad… but I was obviously relieved when I was finally issued a boarding pass 7 hours after arriving there that morning.
If I hadn’t been absolutely broke, I would have ventured out into the city for a few hours, but as luck would have it, I was travelling with less than $20 to my name… so my whole Atlanta experience took place within the airport.
Oh well. at least I can say that, Yes, I have been to atlanta. :o)
