Port Angeles

This is a wonderful place to kayak. I went on a tour of Freshwater Bay on the Strait of Juan de Fuca with AJ of Olympic Raft & Kayak. This tour received an excellent write-up in the Seattle P.I. I swear I am no way affliated with them… I just had a wonderful time on the tour!

Port Angeles is at once uplifting and depressing. It’s a small town with an urban center that almost thrives, seemingly after years of decay. The Olympic National Park is at its doorstep, and yet the town itself has little beauty.

We stayed here pretty much each time we came to washington state… such a cool town… great thrift malls…

Not only have I been here, but I visit every few years because it was my place of birth (actually the Dungeoness Lighthouse in Sequim). I think it’s a breathtaking area.

very pretty. i used to go here a lot on my way to victoria. i used to always stop at this little diner and i would eat the most delicious clam chowder.

Used to visit my mom every summer. Haven’t been back for several years, and really miss it.

I was born in Forks and started my education at the now extinct Lincoln Elementary School. I still visit at least once a year and hope someday to move back permanently. I should go add this goal to my 43things…

I’ve been away for college, but I still love it here. I am fully expecting to live here permanently someday and raise a family. There is so much to do in this town (if you love nature/the outdoors). Hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, watercrafts, camping, etc. etc. etc.!

Such a nice little fishing/logging town. People have always been pretty friendly.

Any town on the water in NW Washington State is worth visiting. And the Olympic Mountains are right there, Hurricane Ridge is a great, fun place to visit and go hiking. There are also lots of other outdoor activities, lakes, rivers, etc. Very nice little city and a ferry ride away from Victoria BC!
