French Quarter aka: Vieux Carré

I went here once… The place was filthy and smelled like tobacco and alcohol. The bars looked great, though, even if the environment really doesn’t suit most minors, because there isn’t much of anything to do except shopping and looking at the buildings for us.

Despite what some of these entries have to say, I found the French Quarter to be charming, yes after Katrina. The city is very vibrant and definitely still trying to rebuild. The streets are cleaned regularly, but there is a bit of a smell to it. It’s a big city so higher crime rates, homelessness, and parking problems just come with that. Using common sense is all that it takes to be safe here. It’s definitely worth visiting at least once! Just walking down Dauphine St. feels like being in a different country.

I’m going to New Orleans July 31! My job is sending me for a 3 day conference. I’m stoked!

I used to live in New Orleans and worked in the French Quarter. I don’t like Bourbon Street. Maybe because I used to work there. It is not good for anything except for people who want to get drunk or go to clubs. I liked the parts of the French Quarter by the river or the French Market and by the church. But I don’t know what it looks like now to be honest because I left that place before Katrina.

the last time i visited New Orleans or the French Quarter was right after Katrina it wasn’t the same.

Other than going once in your life to say you did, I wouldnt recommend…. That is unless you are there to party. The streets were dirty and smelled aweful. The only things to do were to get out of the French Quarter into the Garden District. There were some cool shops and places to snack. Glad I only stayed for a couple days.
