Traverse City

I grew up in TC. It is worth visiting(not living in) a couple months of the year.

which is saying a lot, ‘cause I’ve been to Salt Lake City. But it’s walkable/bikable, I have friends there, it’s near Sleeping Bear Dunes, you can take a schooner ride on the Manitou, and there’s a silly little train ride at the lakeshore for toddlers to enjoy.

I am born and raised in Traverse City, but after I felt and got my bachelor’s degree I would not go back. It is a beautiful town, but too expensive to live in. There needs to be some improvements in the price index before i would go back.

I visited my childhood chum, CE, who lived here for several years after he dropped out of CMU.
I did a 360 in my parents car trying to pass a semi in the snow. Scary days.
I also visited there as a kid when my mother and grandmother would take us “up North.”

Traverse City is great—lots to do and beautiful scenery! It’s close to all of the treasures of Northern Michigan. TC has tons of great places to eat, drink, relax, swim, sail, shop, etc.

I did the Iceman cometh challenge mountain bike race and road my bike very fast through the woods.
There is nothing better then riding your bike really fast through the woods!!!

Best. Place. Ever.

I lived here for a summer. The lake is a bit chilly, but it’s beautiful if you’re not into much heat. The Cherry Festival is also a fun time—just be prepared to park and walk a ways. The city’s right on the lake. Very beautiful. Night life? Not so awesome.
