Terre Haute

I never really understood small town America and what made WalMart worthwhile until I spent two years of my life in Terre Haute, IN. I now understand that in some parts of our country, a city is defined by whether or not it has a WalMart… and Terre Haute happens to have two… which means it’s a “bigger city” to most people living within a 50 mile radius.

The nice thing about Terre Haute is that because it has a small town feeling, there are plenty of “mom & pop” restaurants where you can get a great meal for a great deal. I’ve really learned to appreciate the benefits of the little local diner or bar with barely a sign on the building to let you know what it is…. you really can’t judge a book by its cover in this town because there are a lot of ugly lookin’ books with really great stories just waiting to be told… and all you have to do is open one up.

Eh. I grew up near here, I used to go to Terre Haute if I wanted to go to a movie or to the mall. A lot of my friends go to ISU and rose hulman. Terre Haute’s not a bad place, it’s not that exciting, and it smells because of the paper factory. Check it out if you want, and it’s fine to live there, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get there.

Perhaps the worst food establishment I’ve ever been to has been in Terre Haute. I think it was supposed to be called Taco Casita, but the a and the i were missing, so it was Taco C s ta. 800x worse than Taco Bell. Ugh.

IN A FEW YEARS I PLAN TO PACK UP AND MOVE BACK HOME TO TERRE HAUTE AND MAYBE LOOK UP SOME OLD SCHOOL FRIENDS AND GO FROM THERE!!!!

This is a fun party town to pass through. Didn’t find alot to do, but had fun doing it. When I drive through here I feel the need to turn the radio up load and drive really fast. Not sure why, oh ya I am but I can’t share that. :)

This is my home. I hated it while I was there. I still hate it to this day but I was born and raised in Terre Haute and i never realized how much I would miss it until I moved to Massachusetts. Now all I want to do is go home!

It is the most nowhere town in America but there is nowhere else in America that I call home.

ehh..I came here one time when I was on my way back home to South Bend coming up from Kentucky. I saw the Holiday Inn and some random mall in Terre Haute. It was WICKED hot and humid. The mall was okay but other than that, the town just seemed kind of….eh. blah. That was my experience, anyway.

No place on earth quite smells like this place.

I went to Terre Haute with my boyfriend over Spring Break. It was a nice little getaway (we’re from Ohio). Be sure to check out the Eugene V. Debs museum, not only is it free, but it’s right by (on?) ISU’s campus.

Went up for the afternoon and saw most of downtown and the Indiana State University campus. Nothing too exciting, but every place is worth a visit at least once. I don’t think I’ll have any reason to go back, though.
