Gatlinburg

Beautiful, if you go definitely take the time to hike a trail in the smokey mountains. I am a sucker for waterfalls and the mountains offer plenty.

So much to do, so little time! This is the best place for shopping, attractions, miniature golf, game rooms, rides…you name it. Don’t miss all the Riply’s stuff: The Haunted Mansion, Believe it or Not and the Aquarium for sure! Great Ice Skating at Ober Gatlinburg, great food everywhere and a ton of shops. Yes, there is alot of toursit junk, but some unique stuff as well. I got every couple weeks…beware of traffic and bike rallys, also the car shows make it really hard to get around. Call ahead and make sure there are NO special events going on.

Ignore the city with its t-shirt makers and tourist-oriented activities. Go out into the mountains and enjoy the forests. Take a hike and get back to your roots.

I went as a kid with a fellow classmate Steve Maltby in April of 1977. Somewhere, I had a nice picture of him and I going up a chairlift. Wish I could find that one. Had the date posted in the back.

Thats all I can say because there is so much to do, you simply cannot explain it. There’s Cades Cove, a wonderful preserve of life back in the early 1800’s. There are old houses, barns, churches, and more!

It’s cheezy and touristy in places. But if you go for a romantic weekend there are plenty of things to do. I found this great little stand that sells gelato. The best stuff I’ve ever tasted!

The first I went to CYC was when I was a chaperone in the youth group. It was february and I saw snow, for the first in a while since I moved from IL. I went there on a reteat with the college group in this wonderful cozy cabin.

It is great!!!Get a cabin in the mountains jump in the jucuzzi and RELAX!!!!!

Once a year, for 40 years, my family has been going to Gatlinburg. I’m only 20 years old, but I was lucky enough to be born into a wonderful tradition. The place is great, incredibly clean, and has that mountain-magic with a dose of tourism. There are tons of hiking trails around, not to mention the Appalachian Trail cuts through the smokies, so sometimes you can see a serious trecker with a big ol’ mountain beard come through :) Anyway, I would definitly recommend Gatlinburg, its got so many wonderful memories for me.
