forbidden city

couldn’t remember how many times have been here b4, seems every friends that i know all wanna go to visit the Forbidden City. so when they got a chance come to Beijing, i had to go to the Forbidden city again and again…with different friends. but even i came so many times, i never saw all the architectures of Forbidden city, there are part of them always been repairing. i guess thats all for the 08 Olympic. so now after the Olympic game, a whole Forbidden city is stand in front of the world. without those constructions, the forbidden city is really amazing, especially the south part, like Taihe Gate\ Taihe Dian…
about the Forbidden city, not only the buildings are interesting, but also the histories of the emperors’ life. that will be a long story…

A question about this place:

How much is the ticket now if I use the student card?

Not so forbidden!

I saw this place about 4 years ago with some friends. I definitely reccomend that you visit it, historically, culturally and in terms of its architecture it is definitely a place worth seeing. Expect to share the place with a lot of people though, it gets really busy, starts to feel like a tourist trap. The best thing is when you get out of the forbidden city you can walk up this little hill that overlooks it, on a clear day it’s a fantastic view not only of the forbidden city but also of Beijing.

There is, in fact, a Starbucks in the Forbidden City.

Untitled

Impossible to see it all in a day. The most majestic architecture in all of Beijing, with the possible exception of the Temple of Heaven.

I was horrified to see the Starbucks, or I guess the 星巴克.

Oh, and bring your own batteries, seriously.

Forbidden City

Visited here during my trip to Beijing over the Christmas Holidays of 2004. It was quite cold, but we had a great time. There’s plenty to see.

They’re remodeling for the Olympics that are soon to be hosted in Beijing.

.

The day I went, it was so incredibly CROWDED. You could not get a picture without having a bunch of people standing in front of you. Everyone crowded around the emperor’s throne room, people were pushing and shoving. The day that I went was also a day they were doing construction. I whole-heartedly disagree with remodeling/repainting this place. I mean one building has a faded red, the building across has a bright red that looks like it has just been painted on. Otherwise, if you’re really into history and all that, it’s definitely worth a visit. Expect to walk A LOT and wear comfortable shoes!!
