If you’re going to do Napa/Sonoma, I’d definitely recommend taking a wine tour, you get a driver that will take you to 5 or 6 wineries and you can eat and drink to your heart’s content. :)

Go to Sterling Vineyards. Great wines, beautiful scenery, and a great atmosphere for casual tasting. If you want, ask about reserve tastings, and you’ll be ushered their private tasting room, where a near-overwhelming array of vintages and varietals awaits you. Low pressure, and delicious wines.

Napa is beautiful, but if you’re going for the wine, just a warning: it’s completely geared towards tourists, which is fine, but hectic. The wineries charge a lot of money for tasting; you’ll get caught in traffic behind limos full of drunk graduates/wedding parties/family reunions; and you wait forever to get served. I highly recommend you do Sonoma instead, or if you have more time, Mendocino (further north) – or anywhere actually. Basically ALL of California is now Wine Country and you can get a far better, more charming, cheaper and high quality visit in a multitide of other areas. Paso Robles down by San Luis Obispo, even by Sacramento.
Napa is awfully pretty though, so if you’re going for wine and ambiance/food/locale, then Sonoma is a really good alternative.

GORGEOUS! We went to the Robert Mondavi winery. What a great experience. Although we only went for a day, it was a lot of fun and I’m desperate to go back…

My cousin lives in Napa and got married on July 2, 2006. We planned a trip to Northern California around attending Jimmy’s wedding. Napa was amazing! We learned a lot of new information about wine, visited some of our favorite wineries and enjoyed some wonderful meals! If you have never been it’s something worth experiencing.

I love the countryside. Growing up in a small town, one can love it or hate it. Granted, mine was in the middle of nowhere in the desert. It wasn’t so great there, but I do like the coziness of a small town. I’m not a big city girl, as I tend to like a lot of space.
Henry said he wanted to retire in Napa Valley. I know, it’s the wineries. The Orrs bought a wine vineyard and I think they will retire to there when they leave Intel. How awesome about that. Maybe we can be neighbors.
This is the very first time Henry suggested moving to a place so sparsly populated. He’s a super big city boy, so that really surprised me big time. All those rolling hills, not too far from Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, etc. It would be good to have a vacation home here to periodically get away, but I really don’t know about permanently living there.
I laughed when he said retire. Like for the evening? My plans are to work until I die. Not working at something I hate doing, but the vision God has for my life.
Napa is beautiful, peaceful. If it ever loses that edge, I won’t want to live there. I hate congestion of homes, traffic, businesses. Maybe I should move to Montana.
I really like the mixture of big city and small town. Maybe Sausalito (sp?).

I absolutly hate the countryside or anything other than bustling cities for that matter, however, I fell in love with Napa Valley! This placed changed my life; my family and I (all twenty of us!) went to Napa on vacation last July for two weeks. By the end of the week I found myself sitting in a hot tub, on a hill, in a multi-million dollar house, over-looking the many local vineyards below contemplating what I wanted out of life, and what I really believed in…it was, as I said, life changing. In the moment of course I never realized what a difference that trip had made in my life, but it opened my eyes to the world what really matters, who people really are, and how important family really is…Napa is a good place to go relax, and just think!

Breweries and vineyards visiting. Don’t forget the most important part – wine tasting!
