Worth visiting!

I had standing ‘seats’ for As You Like It and it rained the whole time, but it was great (and cheap)! If you get there early enough (we were about 25 minutes early) you can rush in and grab a spot next to the stage to lean on. I did a tour of it as well on a separate day, and that was cool, but the guide just led us into the theatre where we sat down and listened to him tell interesting facts.

People in pyjamas

Went to see Cymbelline there and it was totally naff. We left halfway through. They all wore the same white pyjama outfits and ballet shoes. A friend suggested that I try again with a play that I know. Hmm, maybe.

Why I want to go to this place

I’ve lived in London my whole life.

It’s a bit shameful that I’ve never been, really.

But I suppose that’s the same everywhere.
People never tend to go and see things that are within easy travelling distance.
They’d rather go to Florida or something :)

Why I recommend this place to visitors

If you’re a huge Shakespeare fan like I am then I highly suggest you visit it! I went on the guided tour which was onlye 9quid (roughly 18 american), but it was totally worth it. That night I also saw the Twelfth Night there for a few quid. You only get that good of a deal though if you’re a groundling-meaning you have to stand the whole time. It was still fun though!

The first time I went to this place

I went with a group of people for a program that we had over seas. When we went, they were rehearsing for Antony and Cleopatra, but the actress who was playing Cleopatra was suppose to fall off the balcony but she was afraid to try it because she didn’t think the harness she had on was safe enough. After that we went to the gift shop where we got alot of good souveniours. Out of all the places we stopped at the gift shops, I would have to stay that that shop was still my favorite.

A tip I have about this place

Lovely and enchanting and everything a Shakespeare fan could want, but do make sure to visit the Tate Modern Museum as well! It’s only a short walk from the Globe. Also, Southwark gave me the impression of being sort of creepy at night. Go with friends.

A review of this place

I’m a little disappointed that the play season only runs from May to September, but I took a tour with Nick Hutchison and he’s amazing, very witty and knowledgable. It was a lot of fun!
