Went on a motorbike trip with an old friend and ended up the top of Skye, Kyleakin. Stayed in a hostel and was an amazing weekend break. Would recommend the Fairy pools, absolutely stunning!!

Take the bus tour unless you want to hike all night; the interesting rock formations are at the “top” of the island, whereas the major settlement/hostel is at the other end, just past the bridge to mainland.
Walking on the main road does give you more opportunities to explore ruined cottages and farms that line the way, many just by the shore.

After seeing pictures, hearing stories, having lots of Scottish ancestors and many other reasons my daughter’s name is Ruby Skye. A lot of people found it weird or just plain stupid to name her after a place but to those whom know anything about it… you would know why. Besides, Skye as a name means beauty, strength and virtue. OH YEAH! The whiskey is another good reason to go hahaha. —-—-—-—-—-—-——-Kimberleigh

I rented a car with some friends and drive from London to the Isle of Skye, making several stops on the way. The best of all the trip was Skye. So calmed, so beautiful. Unfortunately I was there just for 2 or 3 days, but I would really like to go back.

Skye is probably the best place in Scotland for hiking and walking.
Try http://www.skyewalk.co.uk which has a huge number of free walks at all grades of difficulty on the island.
