Why I want to go to this place

I’ve been there about a dozen times in my 20s, but can’t wait to go again…hopefully take my son for the holidays!

Why I want to go to this place

I would like to stay at Coyote Yurt (www.svtrek.com) which I just found a mention of in the Natl Geogr travel mag. Anyone stayed there?

Sun Valley

Nice place. Worth staying @ the lodge. The circular 102 degree pool is great and so peaceful in the winter with the snow falling on you. Dog friendly town unless you actually want a motel that takes dogs…good luck! Great hiking. The outdoor rink(even in the summer) is nice.

Six Day Ski Trip!!

Just got back from a 6 day ski trip! We were in the Edelweiss condo’s just across the street from the Warm Spring chair, couldn’t be any closer it was a great location.
I hadn’t been to Sun Valley in about 15 years, its a great mountain, the snow wasn’t great, no new in about a week, but the grooming was good and there were even some still soft moguls around.
The area has grown and boomed a lot since I was there, lots of yuppies and too many rich people. The Lodges are beautiful but seem more to be designed for rich people and not so much for skiiers. Not really much small town feel left, mostly the feel of money.

Had a great steak dinner at the Pioneer Tavern!

Home

I’ve been here at least a month almost every year of my life. Every season is magnificent. Ketchum is a blast. check out the Pioeer saloon. Hailey Fourth of July Parade is not to be missed, nor it’s Western Days parade. Sun valley skiing goes down in the annals for a truly historical experience (the world’s first chair lift was built here ; D ). Check it out, but…unfortunately, I hope that you don’t stay. Part of the magic is in the small town feel, the less people and citylife, the better.

I need to go back

It was about 15 years ago, and they had a really bad snow year, but it was still fun, and a beautiful mountain.
I need to go back and ski it again, Sun Valley is one of the classic America ski hills, if only in name.

If only Hemingway were still here.

I was born and lived in Hailey until I was 10 years old. Since then (1989), the place has exploded in all aspects. Real estate prices, yuppies, ski bums, celebrities, rich-folk. I’ve never skied here but I’ve heard it’s good, why else was it chosen specifically for that reason? The Wood River Valley as a whole is still small enough to maintain the small town feel but popular enough to attract some of the big city amenities.
