Newbury Street

If you’re in Boston, it’s worth checking out Newberry Street, as long as you have good self control :-) Designer stores galore

Lately I’ve been walking all around Boston not doing anything but checking things out and it seems like the first place I always head to is Newbury St. (then Cambridge, etc).
Lots of people to see and stores to check out.

Newbury Street is in the arts district and reminds me of a NYC shopping area, but a little more condensed and less threatening. You’ve got all the shopping you could possibly want, some great restaurants, and plenty of activity.

Newbury Street never gets old for me. There’s people watching, tons of restaurants, stores to shop or browse, those beautiful gass street lamps that remind you that you’re in the old city of Boston. Oh, and did I mention people watching? Yeah, it can be super pretentious, but it has an incredible liveliness and charm that keeps me coming back for more.

if you’ve got a ton of $$, you’ll love this street!!! otherwise, meh…
there are some fun thrift shops…& JP Licks Ice Cream is the best in town (shameless employee plug…). i’d recommend going three streets over & walking along the river instead. much prettier view & going down commonwealth ave & beacon street you get a much more boston-ey feel.

You can walk down Newbury Street to the Common.

There are several businesses that offer free WiFi access, one of them being a knowledgeable Mac consulting company called Tech Superpowers (252 Newbury St. Boston, MA. 02116).

...is not the overpriced designer stores, nor the salons, nor the shi-shi-fru-fru cafes such as Sonsie. The best thing about Newbury Street is the people-watching – and it is high hilarity indeed.

The parking is usually quite bad down there, but the street itself is awesome!

Stroll through the Public Garden, walk past Arlington, Berkeley, Clarendon, Dartmouth, Exeter, Fairfield, Gloucester & Hereford Streets and come to a stop at Mass Ave. There is excellent shopping, cool cafes, great little restaurants, the best people watching & a trompe l’oeil mural.
