A tip I have about this place

Very touristy; probably the only time you’ll see people wearing shorts. Nevertheless, if you can deal with the crowds and the vendors, the pyramids are quite impressive.

Also, the picture next to the title is the Castillo at Chichen Itza, not Teotihuacan.

Changed my life...

When I knew I was going here, I was excited!! As a little girl, I heard stories here and there from my Dad. I had seen pictures, knew facts, but I never never expected to feel the way I did. The moment we came close to the pyramids, I felt spiritual. To walk up each step of the “Pyramid of the Sun” was breathtaking. So many people from all over the world, embracing eachother, excited with each step closer to the top. I had my 3 1/2 year old daughter with me (who we had to eventually take turns carrying her) and I only wish she could remember it. This is truly the day I can look back and say I felt the closest to God. I cried when I made it to the top, and cried when I came down. I will go back again with my kids.

I went to Mexico on a school trip, and when we came to Teotihuacan, I thought the pyramids were so marvelously beautiful. After taking about 5 billion pictures, all my friends wanted to climb the pyramids. I was very, very reluctant to do this. I had a crippling fear of heights, and I could barely climb trees back home, let alone a gigantic pyramid in Mexico. However, my friends kept urging me to climb the steps, and suddenly I decided: I did not come all the way to Mexico to chicken out! If I didn’t do this, I would regret it. So, long story short, I climbed the steps all the way to the top. I was scared out of my mind, but it was worth it in the end. I can now say proudly that I climbed to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun in Mexico! (I only climbed partways up the Pyramid of the Moon, as it was SUPER crowded!)

Why I want to go to this place

I like saying the word Teotihuacan.
Teotihuacan! Teotihuacan! Teotihuacan! Teotihuacan!

Also, I’m an archaeologist so I’m into this sort of stuff. Moreover, I like climbing things because the sense of accomplishment is, like, so tangible.

A ton of walking but a great place to visit. I didn’t climb any of the pyramids (since I doubt I would have been able to make it) but just seeing them up close was amazing. Definitely worth the visit. Also, there is a restaurant nearby called Pyramide Charlie’s where we had a great time and all the workers there were fantastic!

THE pyramids to see!

What a wonderful impressive place! Take a day to explore it all. Don’t forget to look for the caves which have a restaurant inside. Makes for a great meal in a real shady place – just what you need after the heat at Teotihuacan!
