Musée Du Louvre aka: The Louvre Museum

Unfortunately, I was there with someone who was not interested in art or history, so it felt like we were speed walking our way through. I would recommend taking your time and making sure you are in good company :0)

I was able to travel to France on a High School trip and The Louvre Museum was one of our points of interests. We were only allowed to look around for 1 hour! Definitely NOT enough time! I recommend to anyone who plans to visit this fantastic place to give themselves an exorbitant amount of time in order to truly appreciate what is before them.

i have been here twice and NOT gotten in either time!!

first time it was a monday and i was not hip to the mondays are gallery and museums day off! i was soo uncultured circa 1993!

then in 1996 i had a group of teens with me…yes i was a chaparone …haha but there passes to enter were not valid…so i had a choice..make sit here butts in the waiting room or drag them to the Hamster Cage Gallery…

i dragged them to the Hamster Cage Cuz i am nice like that!!

so i have one more chance to go in and it fails i will Never try again!!

Amazing! So much to see…my advice to anyone going is to wear decent walking shoes because the place is so big! My feet were killing me!!

November 2003 – Excellent Trip !

The first time I visited this place was 1972, and even though I was young, I tried to see what I could see in a half day. I remember the “Coronation of Napoleon” and the “Mona Lisa” and “Winged Victory” among other things.

Don’t forget to look up! The building itself is really amazing!

I remember rushing with the rest of my school party to gawp at the Mona Lisa (much smaller in real life than expected), and then being a bit nonplussed as to which of the myriad galleries to try next.

If you’ve read The Three Musketeers, it’s great fun to imagine what the Louvre must have been like when it was a royal palace.

Wear very comfortable shoes when visiting. Also, do some homework before your visit. I knew the big names (Mona Lisa & Venus de Milo) but was overwhelmed by everything else.

A little preparation will enhance the experience.

I’ve been to Paris 4 times but have yet to set foot inside the Louvre. I’ve seen it from the outside, been to the underground shopping center thing (where you see the bottom of the pyramid) and have taken a peek inside through some windows (see the picture). But never actually went inside. It is still on my to-do list, and when I will finally visit, I plan to reserve an entire day for it. That still won’t be enough to see all, I know, but I hope it will satisfy my Louvre cravings.
