Why I recommend this place to visitors

I was here twice, a great place to visit if you are into military or frontier history…the visitor center has a lot of interesting exhibits, including the fringe buckskin outfit Custer wore, complete with bullet/arrow holes…the actual battlefield looks very peaceful now, it it almost seems odd that there was a blody battle here, but at the same time you can feel that something horrible happened there…probably my only real “supernatural” experience!! Definitely recommend visiting this place though, it is a part of our country’s history, although a sad one. Be warned though, it does get hot there during the summer, and that area is rattlesnake country..

A review of this place: Surprisingly Interesting!

I very briefly lived and worked close to the battlefield site. It’s well worth a stop! I’ve been there twice and always recommend it to those travelling I-90 through Montana. It’s amazing to think that this peaceful expanse was the site of a bloody battle.

A review of this place

This was a great place to visit. Unless you’re completely enamoured with the history, I wouldn’t plan on going to Eastern Montana JUST to see the battlefield.

Visited here on one of our cross-country trips

I was still young, so I’d be interested to see how the monument was presented to the public (I gather that a number of the exhibits have been revised over time). Like all monuments for battles, it memorializes something tragic and stupid, but such is war and I need not dwell on that—the setting itself is striking enough.

A review of this place: Little Bighorn

This is probobly the most infamous battle site of the American Indian Wars. There’s not a great deal to see here because there was not a fort and the battle was on open ground. The area is very pretty and full of history.

A Sense of History

I’ve been there twice and would love to go again. The place is beautiful, but the sense of history there is hard to expalin. I don’t believe in ghosts, and yet, you feel something when you stand in that place. Look across the prairie to the Little Bighorn and imagine the tipis there. Let your mind wonder to another time and you will hear the war whoops and yells, the gunfire and thundering horses. The Interpretive Center is a good one, and the guides are great.
