Bend

Bend and the surrounding areas are great places for summer vacations. Wouldn’t want to spend much time visiting the city itself, but Bend is really more about the great outdoors.

I went to Bend last summer to see the Summer Camp concert at the ampitheater there. The concert was amazing; they have a great outdoor venue there. The sound was great and the grass wasn’t burnt to a crisp in the middle of August.

We stayed at this hotel along the river and we could literally walk straight from our patio down to the water. It was beautiful.

And the shopping and food in downtown is really great too.

An enjoyable town to visit or live in. Being on the edge of the desert, you have both desert and woodland nature nearby. ALso you have Bachelor Butte, Century Drive, the Deschutes River that goes through town.

well actually i’ve been there a few times…i love it so freakin much i’m hoping to move out there soon.

had heard that bend is a haven for outdoor adventures. was traveling alone, tired. drove through the place 4 times looking for a little “downtown”. saw a huge factory outlet mall and a freakin golf resort. was too annoyed to keep looking. got an idaho spud and called it a night.

We went on vacation here last year and stayed in a VI condo in Sun River. My husband and I walked to Sunriver Coffee Co. every day on the many paved trails. We rode bikes, swam, soaked in the hot tub and relaxed. It is a cool destination. Deschutes Brewery and Pub is fun and be sure to check out the Newberry Volcano and Lava River Caves.

Also, visit the nearby Smith Rocks and town of Sisters.

I would like to visit in the winter one of these days… A great place for skiing I hear.

If your already in that part of Oregon, then Bend is the place to be. If not, don’t hurt yourself getting there.

I think I may end up living here someday, so I should probably check it out.

I love Bend, at the foot of the mountains. High peaks and trees and snow to the west and to the east the high desert and plains. Its grown a lot and is not as nice as it used to be but its still a nice town, and the skiing and other recreation opportunities are great!
