A review of this place: Great views

Nice to go to any time of year. The summer it gets busy with families but it’s a great place to throw a frisbee around, suntan, picnic, etc etc. The evenings are less crowded and Gaswords is the place if you want a pretty sunset picture (when it’s not cloudy..good luck).
A scene from the movie Ten Things I Hate About You was filmed here too

Greg Bear (an author who lives in Seattle) mentions Gas Works Park in one of his books. So while I was living in Puyallup and able to visit Seattle often I had to visit Gas Works Park just to see it. I was greatly impressed with the view of Seattle and it was so nice to connect with a place I’d read about.

A tip I have about this place

Its a very nice park and I really enjoy watching the rowers silently go by early in the morning.

If you have dogs, just be aware that there is a homeless guy that sometimes camps in the bushes near the restrooms and his dogs aren’t on leash. They came out of nowhere barking at me and my dogs and I was worried that there would be a huge fight and who knows if they had their shots, etc.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Absolutely the best place to see Seattle in all it’s awesomeness. Kerry Park has a great view of downtown, but nowhere else in Seattle can you have such a beautiful view of downtown, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill and Lake Union – all at the same time.

Also, the gas facility makes for some really cool photo opportunities.

My favorite spot

I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and Gas Works was where I’d always go on nice days to write, zone out and clear my head. I even went back last year and got married at the bottom of the hill there!

There’s not a whole lot to do other than walk around and take pictures, but it’s nice to look at. Anyone in Seattle should see it once.

one of the coolest places in Seattle

I used to live in Seattle and Gas Works Park is one of my favorite places to go and have a picnic, watch the sunset, hang out with friends, be along, in the entire city…

it’s a beautiful location, jutting out into lake union. you can watch boats go by, or kayakers. there’s even a little beach where you can pull up with your kayak (i got to do that once, it was fun :). the hill has some cool artwork embedded into it at the top, and has nice views all around.
just don’t eat the dirt – one environmental company i did some work for said that rather than remediate the soil they just covered it over. yum.
