A review of this place

I like the geographical location of this city. Bounded on both sides by hills. I can just imagine trying to climb up the hill and watching the main street below.

There is an extra entrance fee to see the homes up on the hill.

touristy but worth it

Ephesus is extremely touristy. Was greatly annoyed by the tour groups, especially one guide who found it necessary to gather his group in by honking this extremely annoying honkingthingie. It is a very nice site though, especially the library and of course the amfitheatres. If you wander around a bit you can distance yourself from the tousist masses a bit and enjoy the athmosphere. I would advice going very early, if possible, to avoid tourgroups and also the quite warm weather.

tips for ephesus

İzmir is 45 minute to ephesus , there is no public trabsportation to ephesus from selçuk .İf you try to go ephesus from selçuk you should hire private taxi , instead rent a car from izmir and go ephesus by your car by this way you can see şirince also ...renting a car will be more economic and enjoyable..

Celcius library is the best place to see ephesus , assign at least one day as it is very big area …

be preapared for sun ..

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Ephesus is truly amazing – especially when compared to the ruins in Athens, Greece. If you want to go to both places, I recommend going to Athens first. We went to Ephesus first and I was completely unimpressed with the ruins in Athens. Ephesus is beautiful – I highly recommend it! One of these days, I’d love to go back to Turkey with my husband, since he’s never been there and I didn’t have nearly enough time.

What a great place. Very modern. On the way to the Roman City excavation site we passed by a waterpark.

The people here are very friendly. I went during the time of 9/11 and people went out of their way to show how sympathetic they were when they found out that I lived in NYC.

The Roman city that is currently being excavated is still entact and is definitely something you would want to see. Absolutely amazing.

A tip I have about this place

One of the best preserved ancient cities I’ve visited. Try to go early to avoid the crowds and the heat. The worst time to visit is when the cruise ships pull into port at Kusadasi. It was packed when we visited!
