Crater Lake National Park

Totally worth the long drive from anywhere. you won’t forget this place. ever.

We camped at Crater Lake. Thunder resonated through the mountains. A shower sent us to bed early. I awakened before dawn. As it grew lighter, the forest taking on color and depth, the stars disappearing and the sky turning blue, the resiliency of the moment struck me. My life, vibrant, in harmony with nature, this was a moment to treasure. I live 50 miles from Crater Lake. It is my sanctuary.

It was damn cold when we went (first week of October) but so absolutely worth it to see that deep blue water. Some day I want to go back and stay at the lodge, and just sit in the rocking chairs out back and read all day. Sigh

Amazing.

We climbed to the top of the cinder cone island, in the lake, which is inside a volcano! INSIDE A VOLCANO!

The water is so blue. The campground was nice. Boat tour was educational, much more educational than any of the visitor centers. Great hiking all around (we did Mt Scott and Wizard Island the same day).

There were fires in the park which lead to some smokey areas which made me a bit stuffy and our pictures don’t do justice to the blueness of the water becuase of the haze in the air. Its so blue!

The bluest water I have ever seen! Doesn’t seem real!

The lodge on the lake is really nice. Worth the extra money to enjoy the setting.

vacationed with my family there 6 years ago. my mom and i ran into each other in the lobby at 3 am. neither of us could sleep and we were the only people up. we went out to look at the lake… it was the most peaceful silent moment we’ve ever shared.

The most amazing blue color. Just got back and ready to go again.

I have this beautiful book of pictures from all the U.S. National Parks. The picture of Crater Lake is amazing. It made me want to go see it, and since I live not that far away, I think this is definitely something I should do sooner than later.

I don’t think you’re supposed to swim in the lake but it’s a lot of fun and very cold :)
