Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake is definitely worth visiting, but you need to…

1) Bring lots of bug spray, particularly in June and July. The mosquitoes can be downright oppressive.

2) Go later in the season as the Wizard Island boats don’t start until early July, and the rim drive doesn’t open until late July, snow dependent. Plus, Watchman’s Peak, Mt. Scott, and other high points usually have a lot of snow on them until later season.

3) Check out the nearby attractions just outside the north entrance of the park. Diamond Lake, Mt. Thielsen, and waterfalls along the North Umpqua River are all worth seeing.

Probably the most beautiful place in Oregon. And that says alot.

It is just so beautiful. It is definitly worth the trip! I was there in July on 2005 We did a lot of walking. My tips for a visitor, bring extra film digital or regular what ever you are using these days.) and Bring your walking shoes! and wear layers. There was hot sun and a cold breeze, and there was still snow. (I went sleigh riding in July there!)

WOW! This has to be one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited. I got lucky and was there on a fairly clear, sunny day, and did the drive around the lake. It seemed like every view was more picturesque and peaceful than the last one.

Mazama campground is the nice place to stay: a lot of big campsites for RVs and tents in the forest, fire grills, animal-proof storages – very convinient. The lake is amazing.
I’ve met a lot of nice people there who helped me with my broken car. I want to go back to do more hiking and take boat tour.

I was traveling by bike with the Cycle Oregon in 1989 and I rode over this Mountain and down the other side. Pretty much blew out my knee because my shoes were not adjusted correctly on my 2 week old Cannondale.

Heaven on earth.

this place is amazing and serene, definately worth a visit! The pictures can’t do this place justice, it’s just so beautiful!

A place you’ll never forget.

It’s quite a drive up the mountain, but be prepared for a surreal, quiet expanse of impressive proportions!

I experienced the lake during a still, quiet time as the sun was going down. The chilly, thin air, and the view give you a natural high!

Vistors center is worth going into. There is a 3-D map of the bottom of the lake.

Was I dreaming? This can’t be a real place…ah, but it is.
