Why I want to go to this place

I think it will be a peaceful get away that is distinctly different from any trip I’ve been on.

I am going to East Greenland (Kulusuk + Tasiilaq) next month and I am interested to see what this culture is about. I really hope I don’t see people killing animals, even though I know it’s their way of life. Instead I will concentrate on ice floes and icebergs while I enjoy the pristine quiet peace.

A review of this place: i'm living here

There isn’t that much that happens when you are living here…
Lots of pubs and clubs relative to the size of nuuk…
there was a marathon last weekend
you can play a few sports
there are a few unis..

but it’s so beautiful!

Why I want to go to this place

well i’ve hit iceland and canada so greenland doesn’t seem too far away. i’m thinking this is a long term goal though—i’ve got to hit a lot of the other places on my list first before i can really justify planning a trip here

Naturally beautiful

Worth visiting because of its natural beauty.
I was only in Thule, but would have liked to have seen more.
This is one of my top spots because it is extreme, remote, and naturally beautiful…just bundle up! Once I was there in Feb. and it was -60 F in Thule….. Summer would be better.

Why I want to go to this place

I’ve flown over and always wished I could convince the pilot to stop… and let us climb through the fields of ice and call into the echoing caverns and watch the dancing aurora borealis on snowy peaks that look like whipped icing…

In February 2006, researchers reported that Greenland’s glaciers are melting twice as fast as they were five years ago. According to satellite gravity measurements, the annual loss was estimated at 216 km³/yr (52 cubic miles per year) by 2005. Between 1991 and 2006, monitoring of the weather at one location (Swiss Camp) found that the average winter temperature had risen almost 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Greenland was home to a number of Paleo-Eskimo cultures in prehistory, the latest of which (the Early Dorset culture) disappeared around the year 200 AD. Hereafter, the island seems to have been uninhabited for some eight centuries.
