In the summer, when the sun doesn’t set…

Why I want to go to this place

What can I say? The thought of it being midnight and the sun is still up intrigues me. I think it would be fascinating to see somewhere so relatively untouched by humans, since it has such a low population.

Worth visiting!

Iqaluit

I’ve been to Iqaluit, Nunavut twice now. Once in July when it got slightly like dusk at roughly 1am and again just recently in February where I didn’t want to leave the house.

The people are amazing as well as the culture. It’s different then anywhere else I’ve ever been. Dogs run around, there is garbage in the streets including animal parts, people are friendly, people their creations to you at dinner, the scenery is beautifully simple. I love it there, to visit.

I’ll be going again in April

Land of the Midnight Sun

I was in Baker Lake Nunavut in June 2006. A whole week and it never got dark. The last day of school was a neat “time marker” as the curfew alarm quit going off at night, and the kids were out playing at 11:00pm… midnight… and later. The town was busier in the middle of the night than some small southern towns are during the day!

An amazing visit – great people – wonderful experience.

Auyuittuq National Park

Absolutely unreal. Not the cheapest place to get to, but it’s well worth it.

on skis...pulling a sled...in the winter

I once spent 4 days on skis and snowshoes. I think two months would be great. I’m bringing 30 pounds of bacon and a 55 gallon drum of salted butter.

NW Passage from Labrador Sea to Bearing Sea

Stopped in Resolute. Quite cold. Very desolate. Polar Bear tracks seen from wandering a line from one horizon to other (and on my Icebreaker you coud see for 12 miles). Picture above is from just west of Resolute.

Almost Bob

I would love to visit a place that was almost named Bob by the Canadian people.

Polar bears!

I’ll say it again—POLAR BEARS! How can you NOT want to go here? It’d be like being on your own episode of Lost.

Except no jungle. And it’d be cold.

But hey, other than that, just like Lost!
