i usually bus home from school but on the days i want to hit the baguette box… the 20 minute walk doesn’t seem so bad.

i am pretty conservative when it comes to food; if i try one thing and love it, i never branch out. well, i hit the jackpot on my first visit.

the pork loin sandwich.

tender meat, onions glazed to perfection, and mouth watering apriocot aioli.

i think i am going to walk home again tomorrow.

so perfectly delicious. their “tuna sandwich” is basically a perfect perfect nicoise. did i mention it’s perfect?
oh! and the truffle fries are outstanding.

I found the service friendly and witty but be prepared to wait. It was nice I could have a glass of wine while I waited at a sandwich place but really guys, can’t you speed up my fries (which are not to be missed by the way!) and drunken chicken sandwich? My mouth is watering now- I want some baguette box now!

Baguette Box was well worth the visit. I had gone in expecting something akin to the $2 BBQ pork baguettes that can be found in numerous places in the International District (which are amazing for the price), but the sandwich I had here (pork loin in red wine) was truly excellent. The pork loin was tender and flavorful, and the roasted red peppers and onions were a good complement. A bit on the messy side, but that’s OK. :)

At long last, I finally made it to the Baguette Box with the Robots. I had the delectible Drunken Chicken sandwich, truffle oil fries and a Thomas Kemper soda.

The place itself is a bit minimalist, which I like. Very plain, but with a focus on the food. The way it should be I suppose.

The perfect sandwich is a lifelong, elusive search. Several of Eric’s lovely creations come close. The famous Drunken Chicken, the sliced pork loin, the ever-present cilantro and crusty bread. The parking spaces that always apppear empty, right in front of the Box … All so very nice.
