Mount Saint Helens aka: Mt. St. Helens

St. Helens is spectacular in that you realize the destruction that previously occured and it takes a really long time to get up to it because of the windy road. But it’s worth a few pictures and there was still snow up there when we went so it felt like you were actually in the mountains.

we explored an area of the cave, then realized it was the wrong way. military style belly crawling on lava, without kneepads… great fun.

Four of us rode our motorcycles through the entire place… so wonderful…

I’ve been here a couple times. The history of the place is quite interesting, but there really isn’t too much to see. Though if I was going through the area I’d give it another stop.

I was like 12… Spectacular either way when you are as close as you can get! Some very cool history!

I’ve lived in Washington fourteen years, and I still haven’t been. Driven past it plenty of times, though.

The power of the eruption, and the struggles for life to bounce back are on clear display.

I cannot even begin to describe about how seeing this mountain and working with the USGS changed me.Long drive up a windy and very rainy trail,but well worth it,even it this time of the year.Only you have to work with the CVO to be able to get through some of the closed road barriers,ahh the perks of the job:-)
Even though my trip was cut short,Washington is truly beautiful and I felt at home there.I will be returning to Washington, to live in and work in March and only then will I feel at home.
