We stayed at the Westin in Ka’anapali. 5 min walk to some of the best snorkeling at black rock. Saw a sea turtle the first day. Saw five a day later. Did the road to Hana and swam in a waterfall. Took Maui adventures and a Trilogy excursions. Everything was amazing! Probably the most relaxed I’ve ever been. Eat at Mama’s Fish House and the Hula Grill!

over 3 years agoI was there several weeks ago for the first time and have fallen in love with the place. If you’re a nature lover, you should definitely go. Some things that I recommend:
Road to Hana (Gorgeous waterfalls and plant life, black beach, red beach, rainforest area, etc.)
Haleakala National Park (The crater looks like a Martian landscape!)
Snorkeling in Molokini Crater
Seeing wild dolphins off the coast of Lanai
Shopping in Lahaina
South Maui Beaches
Drums of the Pacific Luau
And more!
It had been raining all day in Wailuku. So Mom and Dad and I went to eat early dinner in Maalaea.
It was still grey, but the drops had stopped when we sat down. As the food came to the table, we spotted two whales playing in water, one adult, one small. They frolicked for about five minutes as the blanket of clouds above turned deep pink. As the light neared horizontal, a big fat rainbow planted one leg sturdily on the hillside across the bay.

over 4 years agoI was born and raised on Maui—Kihei and Lahaina. I am a better person for living in paradise—duh. But it goes deeper than that. It’s where I learned respect for culture and language and land and ocean and beauty. I moved away with my mom and brother many years ago, but my mom ended up moving back recently. I envy her, and plan on moving my family there one day.

over 5 years agoI’ve been to Oahu twice & it was soooooo crowded. I would probably go to Oahu for a few days so my husband could see Pearl Harbor, which I definitely recommend seeing, but then I’d want to fly to Maui or another less-crowded island in Hawaii.
