Boyhood Dream
I’ve always been fascinated by space travel. I remember getting up early some mornings to watch Mercury and Gemini launches on TV before heading off to school. My room had a space map on the wall that let me keep track of the historic Apollo 11 mission. I watched as Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon. And I still enjoy watching Star Trek reruns.
More recently, two or three luckly people have paid small fortunes to visit the International Space Station. More money than I could ever hope to spend.
A little over a year ago, the remarkable SpaceShipOne reached space three times and in doing so, won the X-Prize. Now its designer, Burt Rutan, is working with Virgin Galactic to build an even larger craft of similar design, one capable of putting space dreams within reach, and giving the average guy like me the opportunity to become a space tourism pioneer.
How amazing!
