It is beautiful alright, but all people you see are tourists . I didn’t even see a single local.

You know, this isn’t really realistic, but if it becomes possible in my lifetime to easily travel somewhere interesting in space for a relatively (like $400,000 tops) low price, I’m there! Oh, well. FTL travel is unlikely to be invented in my lifetime, if not impossible to be invented at all.
Either way, this is pretty much just hopeful thinking.

It was my childhood dream (1st grade, as far as I can remember)- to become an astronaut. Too bad I grew up with a pungent distaste for science…
My professors assure me that I’m a “space cadet” though. Take that as you may…

Sara and Kristin and I were talking about nuptials and the celebrations connected to them because Sandy has her big bachelorette party here in Guerneville this weekend. Next weekend, we’re going to Mexico for some friends’ combined bachelor/bachelorette party—Mexico! What happened to the old one evening bachelor or bachelorette party? Weddings seem to be getting inflated, too, in our circle of friends. No longer content to get married close to home, friends are making a big trip out of it, getting married outside of the U.S.
This development means that we’re going to Mexico twice this year, which, actually, I think is great. I’ve only been to Mexico once and any excuse to get back is worth it. However, it does seem to me that weddings and their associated festivities are getting bigger. Honestly, I’m all for this trend. The farther from home the wedding is, the bigger the party, the more it seems like it’s taking place in a mythical world far from home, the more memorable the occasion.
Anyway, we were remarking on this inflation phenomenon and I commented, “Yeah, eventually, one of our friends is going to have to get married in space.”
You know it’s gonna happen sooner or later. Picture this. It’s 2020. Richard Branson has daily flights into suborbital space. Our friends are like, “If you can’t afford the fare on Virgin Galactic, you’re welcome to attend a small ceremony we’re having at St. Tropez.”

Sure wish I had £1,000,000 for that tourist trip thingy they’ve started to run.
