Cape town city review by stancedual

City Review: Cape Town

Cape Town is located in Africa. It is the capital of the Republic of South Africa, it was originated in 1652, by the Dutch East India Company.
Cape Town was the gateway to Europe’s penetration in South Africa in the15th century. The climate in Cape Town is Mediterranean; the centre of Cape Town is located at the northern end of the Cape Peninsula.
During the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars, the Netherlands was repeatedly occupied by France, and Great Britain moved to take control of Dutch colonies for example Cape Town.

Cape Town’s local government is the City of Cape Town, which is a metropolitan municipality. Cape Town is governed by a 210-member city council .The city is divided into 105 electoral wards; each ward directly elects one member of the council, whilst the other 105 councilors are elected by a party-list promotional list system. The Executive Deputy Mayor is chosen by the city council.

According to the South African National Census of 2001, the population of Cape Town is 2,893,251 people. Cape Town has four major commercial nodes, with Cape Town Central Business District containing the majority of job opportunities and office space.

Some products produced in Cape Town are send to other countries by the Port of Cape Town. Cape Town produces a big quantity of rubber.

With its wide variety of activities one could easily spend a week or more in Cape Town. It is a good idea to have a rough idea of what you would like to see and do while in Cape Town and plan a rough itinerary.

Cape Town airport offers an excellent entry point to South Africa. The airport has recently undergone extensive renovations to bring it into line with international standards. When in South Africa it is advisable to hire a car as many destinations are not easily accessible by public transport. Although there are public transport systems in Cape Town, they are not entirely suited to the holiday maker and are not always reliable after hours. A self-drive tour starting in Cape Town and traveling through South Africa is a popular holiday choice. There are many tourism choices to do there. One of the most exiting programs is the Two Oceans Aquarium.

The city of Cape Town is the most exiting city in Africa , this is my opinion about the city of Cape town.

I will be visiting Cape Town in April 2010... by Lisa Grant

I am incredibly excited to be planning a 2 week trip to Cape Town with my best friend. On our agenda: skydiving, cage shark diving, bungee jumping and enjoying what this beautiful city has to offer. I am counting down the days until I board the plane to my very first overseas destination.

I’m not entirely sure why I want to go here. Maybe it started when I was about 10 and read about Boulder’s Beach and the penguins there. Africa is one of those places that just seems a million miles away from my own sphere, and I have always been into exploration.

Last night, while out for dinner with friends, a friend whose family moved here from Umtata about 10yrs ago suggested that we should try and get a group of us out there next year. It would just be phenomenal if it could happen.

Unbelievably beautiful!
I loved the view from the Table Mountain at sunset on a clear sky day, enjoyed watching whales up-close, and loved Cape Point and the beach at Camps Bay. The V&A waterfront is a nice place to wind down. The food and wine is great and there’s a nice party scene.
On the other hand, use public transport only if you must, the minivan park in town stinks (literally!), and the city council should do something about the litter in parts of town.
All in all, worth the visit for the natural beauty alone!
Breathtaking! over 5 years ago

Like An Orgasm by Megan

I went to a rock show, Family Values actually, yesterday. Anyways, in the Korn mosh pit I met this awesome guy who was from Johannesburg. And I asked about Capetown. He sighed & described it as an orgasm. That it was amazing & beautiful. And he talked about the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans meeting (not in Capetown, but still) It was so…surreal. And, he was the most random amazing mosh buddy ever ever! But yeah, I really really need to go now. I like orgasms :) heehee
