A tip I have about this place

I really enjoyed Fes. One tip would be to pick up some French or Arabic before visiting. It was very easy to travel in the coastal North using Spanish/English but that ended quickly in Fes. I still had a great time but only communicated with the touts/guides. Anyone who speaks English is probably trying to sell you a rug or score a commission off of selling you one.

A tip I have about this place

Take a taxi ride up the nearby hill and look down on Fez, it is an amazing site, the oldest medieval city in the world, but once you get in it all you can see are the tiny streets and peer through small doorways, it’s so easy to get lost..

The first time I went to this place

This was a bit of a culture shock for me but really worth going. The markets are pretty amazing! Its very busy with lots of kids following me around and people trying to sell me something at every opportunity! Very beautiful Mosques and views were lovely!

A tip I have about this place

Take a guide for the medina your first time
9500 streets winding in random directions with souqs, mosques, foutnains and workshops tucked away in random places. It is too hard to find everything on your own, but amazing when you do see it. Much more authentic feeling medina than in Marrakech too. Loved it

A review of this place: Fez in a world of it's own.

Truly a unique place where you can experience an authentic glimpse of a way of life that has changed very little over centuries.

go to the old town

A visit to the old town in Fez is unlike anything else I’ve ever seen. A total maze inside the old city walls. You could literally get lost in there for days without a guide. Not to be missed. Some of my best travel photos are from there.

Vibrant city

Of all the places I visited in Morocco, I liked Fes the most. The maze-like medina, the leather pools and of course, the hats!
