Sioux Falls

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Live Here - Love it

A lot of people seem to not like Sioux Falls because there “isn’t much to do” or it isn’t very cultured. However, I’d beg to differ, especially on culture.

The Pavilion has more than just “the occasional concert” – we have our own orchestra with a world-class maestro who are playing some incredible amazing and difficult stuff.

Downtown has street musicians and “First Fridays” when art galleries are opened and Phillips Ave is buzzing.

Check out Black Sheep coffee – cool spot, and Monks and Latitude 41 on 8th downtown are great places for nightlife (so I hear – as I don’t usually do much of that.)

Great place for families, MSN just named it number one place to find a keep a job.

Granted, some of the city planning is bad, the driving is horrible often and there are other things that might not be as amazing as bigger cities – but if you’re looking for a great place to live and work – I’d recommend it.

my cousin drove my friends and i here from le mars, iowa last summer, and we camped in an rv park. we walked from the rv park to the greyhound bus station which took a greater part of the day, and though not a lot of people talked to us (with our huge packs and beards and multi coloured hairs), those that did were rather open and friendly. huge place, weird fake battleship park, awesome bus station, and the first time i had been to a drive through espresso box.

I’ve lived here all of my life growing up. It may not be all it’s cracked up to be, but no one is saying this is the best of the best either. The people are very generic – There isn’t much of a variety when it comes to style and personality.

If at first glance you’re a little baffled, at least give it a chance. There are things to do here, you just need to look around and be open-minded. Sure there isn’t going to be any clubs to go dancing or any big street events, but there ARE things to do here.

People are different everywhere and if you had a bad experience, don’t blame it all on us here. There are some decent people, like myself, who are respectful to people from out of town or state.

I think people get the wrong idea. And it isn’t small and compact. It’s ridiculous how often I hear that but it’s expanded to a point.

I’m not suggesting anyone move here or travel here, but give it a chance at least. It can’t be as bad as some people say.

I live here.

The only reason it’s worth visiting is because I’m here, you can come visit me! Eh, its an okay town. It was beautiful in the Fall. I haven’t seen it in the Winter or Spring yet.

A review of this place: Not Worth It

I agree that it is not all what it is cracked up to be. Not much to do and the people are not much to brag about. Becoming too crowded and the most discourteous drivers I have encountered. Not a pedestrian town. I was very surprised that The Falls wasn’t cleaner nor was the Sioux River. It is disappointing as these are great things if only they were better taken care of. JMHO.

The worst middle america has to offer. If you’re not caucasian, I would recommend flying over it instead of driving through it…

The only reason why I said it wasn’t worth it is because I had a bad experience. But now that I look back on it, it’s funny. I was 17, on a greyhound from TX going to Canada for the first time to see my boyfriend. Unknowest to my family and me, I needed a notarized letter from a guardian to get into the country. I realized this when the bus driver told me in Sioux Falls, and I was hysterical. I had no idea what to do! I finally went in the station crying and screaming, and the lady at the counter had to calm me down. She called my mom and got everything straightened out and had the letter faxed. I had to stay overnight at a Holiday Inn (which my mom wired money to) and catch the next bus the next morning. It was quite an experience. I love telling the story though because it’s so stupid and funny, haha.

My daughter lives here. Big city, small town feeling. Loved the river, too!

Wow, a good entry on Sioux Falls

People have been tough on this little slice of America. I myself, had a nice time. I treated myself to probably the best steak I’ve ever had at Minervas, had nice chats with some of the locals, and discovered some of the beautiful churches in the area. I think, as with anything else in life, you just have to go in with an open mind, and let a place be whatever it’s going to be. It can be fun to meet different kinds of people with different attitudes. I was fully entertained meeting all the people attending this big hunting convention that was going on, and enjoyed having to search a little harder for a bit of local flavor, and I definitely found some.
