Pasadena

I was actually born in Minrovia. However, this is where I lived, on Ivy street. I always remember loving it, so nice and warm, with lots of mountains and beautiful scenery!

My sister lives here, and I’ve visited a couple of times. It’s a nice, small city and you can walk a lot of places. It’s very pretty, and it’s just the right mix of suburban and urban. It’s good if you are visiting the LA area and want to be close, but don’t want to stay in Los Angeles itself. The mountains are close by for hiking.

The house I grew up in was built by the same guys who built the Gamble House (Greene and Greene) – that place is AMAZING and worth seeing. My house was Way less formal. There is so much to do and see in and around Pasadena. And so much history… It will always hold my heart and I miss it dearly.

My mother and father-in-law lived here for a time and my husband spent a lot of his boyhood here. The weather is gorgeous and the shopping is excellent. It is in perfect proximity to Los Angeles. One of my favorite towns. His parents now live in LA and we always go back to Pasadena when I visit…my sister-in-law and I have to hit all our favorite shopping/manicure spots!

i loved being able to walk around during the day and night in such a large city and feel like a part of an intimate community! fabulous!

A’Float Sushi is a fun and delicious experience. It’s a very small restaurant on Colorado Blvd. But, watching yummy sushi being made and floating around on boats is pretty exciting!

There’s a lot of old architecture (by California standards) and there are many museums, restaurants and events going on here.

If you are around the area go to old town pasadena, i liked it for shopping, would’ve enjoyed it more had I brought money(see LA entry)

Seeing it on TV just can’t compare with seeing it live. The floats are huge, the creativity in their decoration is easier to see, and the smell of all those flowers – wow!

Getting there, finding a place to park, paying for tickets for bleacher seats (or camping out for a free spot) can all be a real hassle, but it’s worth it to see the parade live. Do it if you can!

I was marching in the 2001 Rose Bowl Parade and it was AWESOME!! even if it was 5 1/2 miles in 2.5 hours it was still awesome and a great work out :)
