Syracuse

My home for eighteen years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The seasons are beautiful. Autumn is truly awe-inspiring. The snow is gorgeous. Sure it’s cold in the winter time, but dress appropriately and you’ll be fine. You are a few hours from NYC, Philly, DC, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, etc. – BUT you are living in a town that is very small considering its population. Low cost of living. Extremely reasonable home prices. Great neighborhoods abound. I think of Syracuse as a gem.

Ah, Syracuse I miss you…but not the winter!

I’m from syracuse… its a place to grow up, a place to get educated, and a place to retire… NOT a place for the inbetween. I love to visit now that I’m gone. soft smile

If you dig snow, then maybe… MAYBE. But don’t assume that because it snows a lot there are good places to ski/board. Pretty humid in the summer. There really isn’t much to do, music scene isn’t great, but better than other cities of its size. There is a reason this was voted one of the 50 worst places to live in America (along with all of the other central/western New York cities.) The nightlife is nothing special. The only thing Syracuse really has going for itself is Syracuse University. Really, there are tons of cities that are far more worthy of a time investment. Syracuse has nothing except SU over any other real large city in America.

I live in Camillus… just outside of syracuse… i went to what people call “the rich school”... i LOVE camillus but Syracuse is kinda boring… its worth visiting and is the perfect place to live if you want the “big city life” without the big city… downtown is probably the best place here… but as people say… you know you’re from syracuse if you get sunburn and frostbite in the same week… its verry true… the weather is unruley… over all its a cool place to visit but not the best place… if i was gonna visit any mad cold city… it would be Chicago

i love this city with all my heart

Wasn’t sure whether or not to recommend Syracuse. On one hand, it has got the Carrier Dome, Erie Canal, a kickass mall, and one of the newest bus terminals in the country. On the other, it seems to have shared the same fate as other suffering Upstate NY cities. I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Syracuse is awesome, if you like being cold 90 percent of the year, if you enjoy snow, and if you enjoy a terrible economy with a lack of sufficient jobs.

Those people who tell you it rains all the time, or that there’s nothing to do—they lie. I grew up in Syracuse, and it’s actually a great place with plenty to do and see.
