Knoxville

ive been looking to get out of orlando for sometime now and have been deciding between columbus ohio or here.im from dc from birth,lived in orlando for 5 years.kinda doing some compare and contrasts with both.any information would be great as far as schools jobs scene music transportation and living there as opposed to a large city.any info would be awesome.thanks.

I have lived in 6 states and 2 countries since 2000. I came to school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and fell in love with it. Knoxville has so much to offer I don’t even know where to begin. If you are thinking about coming here and would like to know what to do and where to go, let me know!

and have lasted longer in Knoxville than in any other place. Though it’s not THAT cosmopolitan, living is affordable and nature lovers revel in all that’s available here. Also, if you search, you will find awesome pockets of people who are creative and openminded, who do much to help the world, who ride bicycles and buses instead of suv’s and who make a huge effort to live consciously.

if you’re bored here, then you’re not digging deep enough. on the surface, it’s a small town.

In my honest opinion, Knoxville itself really isn’t all that interesting and doesn’t have any truly notable attractions (unless you’re a women’s basketball fan-the HOF is located in Knoxville. Obviously, if you’re a UT fan, this is the place to be.). I used to live here-for 10 years, actually. If you want more interesting attractions, head east (sorry) to the Great Smoky Mountains and Pigeon Forge.

Mind the traffic on I-40/75; while I lived there, there was no end to the highway construction projects. The roads are well-maintained, though.

Not a whole lot going on here, but if you can, check out Ironwood Studios. the guy who works/runs the plae there is super cool, and makes these great sculptures for lots of different people and companies. good times!

Get into the local music scene. Visit the Old City and stay away from Cumberland Avenue unless you actually attend UT. Kingston Pike has some good restaurants and shopping. Plan most of your travel time for hiking and camping, as some of the best sites in the Smokey Mountains are about an hour’s drive away.

was when my grand parents lived there. I was a very young mother and I was brining my daughter to meet them for the first time. It is beautiful…but if you don’t like humidity don’t go in the Summer.

It’s great for the homeschool convention (as far as I remember…it’s been a few years.) but other than that, nothing exceptional.
