A review of this place: Greatest place ever!

My boyfriend lives in HB so I’m there just about every other month. It’s definitely worth visiting. Beautiful beaches and awesome mexican food. Hurricane’s happy hour is great too. No matter where you sit in that place, it has a great view. I love HB. Where I come from, the streets aren’t lined with palm trees so HB is like paradise for me.

Brrrrr!

Being a Florida native I thought going to the beach in CA would be much the same. Boy was I wrong! I froze my butt off! And forget about going in the water. The Pacific is freezing compared to the warm and very flat Florida Atlantic Ocean.

TONS TO DO

Lots of shopping to do. Visit the new italian shopping area called Bella Terra. Also be sure and visit 5 points for a deal on great shopping. Dont forget to visit the downtown area and try eating at Jersey Joe’s, its a great and cheap italian restaurant in downtown.

The beach is indeed really damn nice

Lives up to its reputation. Just never visit HB on July 4th—things get a little busy.

A review of this place: Surf and volleyball

If you like the above two things, and not much more, this is probably the best city I can think of for it. Because of its central coastal location in Southern California, Huntington Beach is known for having the largest beaches, from concrete to water, and also the largest waves… which means surfer and vollyball heaven.

And the pier is really great.

If none of the above excites you (and it doesn’t have to), then you’re not missing too much.

The downtown/Main St. area is basically just a big parading of kids showing off their bad-ass cars blasting hard rock or punk, and large-ass jeans… funny for a while, but gets old quickly.

Really enjoy Ruby’s restaurant at the pier. There is usually a bit of a wait to get in, but it’s worth it. The 50s diner decor is cute, and the milkshakes are wonderful. I also enjoy perusing the shops along the beach. Parking can kind of be a problem, so it’s best to go early. It’s a beautiful place though. I hear the surfing is exceptional, but I’ve never tried.

Huntington Beach is my home

Huntington Beach is my favorite place in the world. The water is always pretty cold and the surf is usually good. Most of the kids in HB have blond hair and they are all very cute. H.B.ers’ roll around on something…skateboard or blades, cruiser bikes, razors…and then they go into the water and ride a surfboard or a boogie board, maybe a skim board…everyone rides “a something” around here. We like to play in H.B. Recreation is a lifestyle and an attitude. We are coordinated and fluid in HB. Bodies in motion, cool and laid back…concrete waves, pounding surf, extended and slamming limbs connecting to volleyballs, footballs and frisbees…walking the dogs with those plastic bags ready, peeling off the wetsuits and showering outside, getting dressed and undressed with a towel wrapped around/ no one even notices or cares. HB people speak with few letters and words…”kinda like, Hey, Yo whad up” Duude, get out” ..most of the translating is in the body movement and gestures. I friggin love it here because I fit in. I am a big teenager at 52 and no one gives me grief about it . I get to think cool and roll with it, I don’t know what “it” is most of the time and I don’t care. I’m just happy, HB happy. Huntington Beach is about feeling good and loose. Huntington is too far from the freeway for the normal commuter and we like that alot. HB people are privledged…I feel privledged to be a local. We are the usually not a threat to the bell curve at most academic empires…but we will steal your honey with our charm, buzz by you on any kind of board imaginable, compete with you for the fun of it and lend you a hand when you least need it or expect it. Huntington Beach is the comformed rebels haven..being just a little “sideways”, and free-spirited may be the only pre-requisite for residence.
